Known as the Lily of the Mohawks, St Kateri was the daughter of a Christian Algonquin who was captured by Iroquois Indians and married to a pagan Mohawk chieftain. She was born in upstate New York and was orphaned at an early age when her parents and siblings died of smallpox. She was left with poor eyesight and a badly disfigured face. However, she was a beautiful soul consecrated to Christ with a vow of virginity.
As a Catholic, she was persecuted so terribly that she fled for her life to Canada near Montreal where she lived a life of great holiness to her death in 1680 at the age of 24. Her feast day is July 14. She is patron saint of the environment and ecology. You could call her the "green" saint!

Sue painted the original of this icon in acrylics. The white halo symbolizes her name, Lily of the Mohawks. The picture is a bit wintry, with little green dots for the seeds of new life in Christ that Kateri helped plant in North America. Her face was modelled after a photo of an Algonquin lady, and her clothing from other photos of Mohawk and Algonquin women. She is often shown with the Rosary and a cross made from sticks.

All of our pendants are made with lead free solder and glass. Great on a chain or bracelet. We offer a ball chain for elsewhere in my shop.

If you put the charm/medal on a key chain, it may get broken if not treated kindly. It is glass. If you want one for a key chain, We can custom make your medium charm/medal with a thicker glass for $2. Small charm/medals don't need thicker glass, but either way, they need to be on a chain before you add them to your key ring.

Jewelry orders are sent gift wrapped as shown, and Sue will include a holy card of her drawing of Pope Francis!
